Hypnotherapy: Our Approach

Louise Ford

GQHP, CP-NLP
Integrated Cognitive Therapist
Hypnotherapist

My role as a therapist, in the first instance, is to bring some degree of comfort, settling and soothing your nervous system and helping you to discover that essential space of relaxation and calm that lies deep within.

Once you can access the source of deep relaxation, you can start to work within this space and learn effective techniques which can change your thinking and emotional processing.

These techniques, based on Hypnotherapy, Neuro Linguistic Processing and a range of additional therapeutic approaches to mental wellbeing, will help you to untangle the unprocessed traumas and anxieties from past and present, which are stopping you from finding that essential strength and confidence within yourself; this will enable you to become and remain the best possible version of yourself.

The aim is to understand accepted scientific models of the stress and relaxation response, and to explain and understand these responses in relation to your own experiences. This allows you to consider your own experiences, memories and thought processes, helping you to release and overcome your own reactions to trauma, stress and anxiety.

As a result, you will develop your own strength and resilience, in order to increase your inner resources and gain increased emotional and mental strength, giving you positive practical alternatives to the stress response.

I have trained in many disciplines over the past 20 years and bring an expansive, integrated approach to my therapy sessions, utilising a wide variety of therapeutic methods.

My professional background is within the education sector, where I was a teacher, and Headteacher. Utilising my education knowledge, I work with local schools supporting their employees.

I have worked extensively with employees from the public sector, including the fire, police and ambulance services, and the local council, as well as those within education.

I also offer training and group guidance on a range of mental health topics.
